How it works

The On Call Companion is designed to be easy to use, easy to install and unobtrusive to the user. Making the best use of your Call Companion is as simple as one, two, three.

   1. Press the button on your pendant or base unit to initiate an “Emergency” siren.  This will announce clearly that an emergency has occurred and transmit a signal to our 24/7 Monitoring Station. After approximately 45 seconds the base unit opens a two-way voice link with our central station. Our unit utilizes a high-powered speaker and microphone so that you can hear and be heard almost anywhere in the house up to 2,500 square feet without ever touching a phone, ensuring safety in your whole house.
   2. One of our friendly and highly trained monitoring personnel will come on the line and assess the situation. If you simply need someone to talk to or feel unsafe, they are there for you. However if there is no response from you, or you indicate that there is trouble, our staff will quickly dispatch the appropriate authorities, as well as notify friends and neighbors that you would like notified.
   3. Our trained and friendly staff will stay on the line with you until help has arrived or the situation is resolved, no matter how long it takes. Also, while one operator is on the phone with you, another operator will be dispatching necessary authorities and notifying your friends, relatives and neighbors that are able to provide help.

Parts of the On Call Companion

The On Call Companion consists of two basic parts, the base unit which can be plugged into any available phone jack and standard power outlet, and the Pendant Transmitter which can be worn on the belt, wrist or around the neck. Here is a list of the Constant Companion’s parts and their features:

Base Unit:  The base unit comes to you pre-programmed and ready to use: simply plug the included cord into a phone line and the power plug into the wall. The base unit has only 3 oversized and easy to read buttons:  “Home”, “Clear”, and the oversized, glow in the dark, “Emergency” button. Pressing the “Emergency” button activates the alarm and connects you directly with our friendly and professional staff. Pressing and holding the “Clear” button will cancel an accidental alarm. The Activity Timer is another distinct feature of the On Call Companion. A press of “Home” button initiates a timer for 8, 12 or 24 hours. If the timer elapses before either the pendant button or “Home” button is pressed an alarm will sound and the central station will be notified. The base unit also features a high-powered speaker and extremely sensitive microphone, ensuring that you can hear and be heard anywhere in the house up to 2,500 Square Feet.

Pendant Transmitter-This is the most important part of the On Call Companion and is your key to feeling safe, secure and always connected. The pendant can be worn on the wrist, belt or around the neck with the included belt clip, lanyard or watchband. A single press of this sturdy and long lasting transmitter sends a signal to your base unit, alerting our central station that something is wrong. Once this button has been pressed your base unit will begin a two-way voice call with our friendly and helpful central station staff who are ready and trained to help you and assess any possible trouble. This constant connection will make sure you feel safe and secure anywhere in your home or on your property. 

Our Monitoring Center

At On Call Companion we know that the monitoring center we use is the heart of our system. Without a monitoring company that is dedicated to customer service with a friendly and prompt manner, our service would be worthless. On Call Companion utilizes a nationwide computerized Alarm Monitoring Center with offices all over the country. Each office is fully equipped to handle any emergency that may arise, as well as being UL Listed and having quadruple failure protection. If one or more of our monitoring offices happens to go down due to bad weather or a natural disaster, there is always a backup, ensuring you maximum safety and security in any situation, in any part of the country. This, combined with a commitment to service, makes our monitoring center and On Call Companion stand out from the pack.
